Storyline:

Written and directed by Gopi Puthran with Rani Mukerji in the lead role, Mardaani 2 exposes gruesome crimes against women but also delves deeper into issues such as women’s safety, gender inequality, misunderstandings, and toxic masculinity.
Superintendent of Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukherjee) sets out to capture a criminal (Vishal Jethwa), who is fit to rape young women before being brutally murdered. The trouble is, he is always one step ahead of the police, playing a cat-and-mouse game on his own terms.
Shivani comes to terms with her strength – she has a habit of studying a crime scene in the most elaborate way possible, a trait that her male subordinates loathe. In the pursuer, you are invested in finding out how, and if, Shivani lets the demon out again before catching her.
Mardaani 2 is not the first film that exposes heinous crimes in the headlines but exploits social consciousness given its timeliness. As Hyderabad and then after the horrific rape and murder of a doctor, the nation once again takes us back to the cruelty of such crimes and how we need a strong solution. The sequel to Pradeep Sarkar’s Mardaani (2014), which highlights the issue of human trafficking, Mardaani 2 takes it to a higher level and clearly highlights the fact that cinema is a reflection of our society. It is real, relatable and succeeds in developing the desired angle in you.
